Dozen Photo Challenge Reflection

keirad1

The best photo I took for this challenge was of the snowman stuffed animal that had side lighting. The side lighting really accentuates the shadows and highlights and creates a beautiful contrast.

The most challenging part of this assignment was playing around with different lighting and determining what type it was. I would often get confused whether back light meant the light is behind the photographer or behind the subject, so I would have to look back at the lectures.

To create stronger images in the future, I am going to try to focus on noticing my surroundings before composing a photo. I will also try to move around my subject more to achieve different types of lighting.

Comment on Gioiella Del Vecchio's Post:

"My favorite photo is definitely the complementary colors photo! The contrast of the orange and blue as well as your use of the rule of thirds makes the image so aesthetically pleasing. Not much I would change, but if anything I might adjust the saturation so the blue is brighter and pops more. Great job!"

Wow, there is something so simple, yet so captivating about this photo. Like you mentioned in your explanation, the lighting coming from the side and the shadows cast give the whole image a more dramatic feel. Additionally, the colors that are in the image work very well together to elicit a warm and cozy atmosphere which bodes well with the image you think of when imaging a winter scene. Adding to that, the softness of the blur in the background also gives it a comforting, relax feel. Great work!
